Marcham & District News (MADNews) is the local newsheet for the Oxfordshire villages of Cothill, Frilford, Garford, Gozzards Ford, Marcham and Tubney in the United Kingdom. Being just outside Abingdon, reputedly the oldest town in the U.K, and near to Oxford, one of the most famous and attractive cities in the world, makes this district a pleasure in which to live and work.
MADNews was first published in January 1979 with the objectives to inform and entertain people living and working in Marcham and the surrounding villages by way of a free monthly newsheet. With the help of the local parish council, donations and advertising revenue these aims have been possible to maintain without a break since that time. The newsheet is a non-profit making organisation and there have been four people so far brave enough to Edit the publication: Jonathan Page (founding), Ken Page, Martin Thorne and Meriel Lewis (current). The newsheet is a very effective way of advertising for local companies and organisations. Our feature items regularly highlight local businesses in the district.
It is delivered free to residents in the six villages of Cothill, Frilford, Garford, Gozzards Ford, Marcham and Tubney. People outside this area may subscribe and receive an issue by post for £5 per year. Please send cheques made payable to Marcham and District News, to:
